Stretch Armstrong recalls meeting a 16 year old name Nasir Jones. Excerpt from the below:

Walking back from a shooting in Harlem, we bumped into Stretch Armstrong, right in front of WCKR. That’s the station where he started – in 1990 – what would later become the “Stretch and Bobbito Show”, which many consider the best show ever.

The guy NORE used to call “the albino ostrige” recalls a number of great moments and a greater number of (then) unsigned rappers who blazed the show : cats like Jay-Z, Eminem, Big Pun, ODB, Big L, Biggie, and also a 16 y.o kid in shorts called Nasir…

I caught up with Nas and Damian Marley at Rock the Bells in L.A. They talk about their forth-coming ‘Distant Relatives’ project.

The Nas footage isnt the best, but thats how it goes when you get 10 minutes with one of the hottest rappers in the game in his tour bus, 12 minutes before he hits the stage.

There wasn’t enough room on the tour bus for my camera crew.

I remember when Irv Gotti stated that he appreciates Nas more when he lyrics delve into the state of ignorance. I won’t say I agree with him but I completely understand his point of view, especially with tracks like “Everybody Crazy” of the album Lost Tapes. So in honor of “ignorant” Nas here’s the throwback of the week (it’s been a minute hasn’t it) the album Lost Tapes.

"Here is a song we recorded over a year ago in LA at HOB Studios. This was a dream come true for me, to record a song with one of the most prolific artists in all of music. Busta Rhymes told me that he is our crown jewel, and I would have to agree. It’s an honor to work with some of the pioneers and true greats in hiphop and to live out my dreams. Although the song didn’t make the final cut, I had a chance to produce Nas and collaborate with him in the studio. I coached him thru some of his vocals and we conceptualized the song. A truly incredible experience.

Interesting find over at blindi, the elusive and exclusive Nasty Nas 91 Demo Tape, the cd that started it all for the legendary MC. The cd contains quite a few unheard tracks which were mostly recorded when he was at the age of 18, mind you he was a high school drop out at that time but you couldn’t tell with the lyrical prowess that he displayed on this tape that supersedes almost anything that I have heard since Eminem demo Infinite. Enjoy!
